It goes beyond the requirements of industry standards to leave pistons 50% cleaner than required by API SN and ILSAC GF-5.

SHELL PUREPLUS TECHNOLOGY is a revolutionary process that converts natural gas into crystal-clear base oil with virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil. Base oil makes up approximately 75-90% of motor oil and so this is a significant step-change in the composition.
