Road Safety in South Africa

With a per capita death rate of 34 per 100,000 per annum, our road safety record as a country remains concerning, on average 47 people die due to road crashes daily. In 2015, Road traffic crashes were estimated to cost the country R306 billion annually (or 8% of our GDP)

70% of South African school children travel to school by walking all the way and are vulnerable to being involved in road crashes (16% of people in road crashes are kids)
